Successful strike action brings reopening of talks
Following our extremely successful Day of Action
last week throughout the whole of the Western Isles(a
big thank you to all who took part), the employers
(CoSLA) have agreed to meet the trade unions on Thursday 28th
August. The meeting will take place in Edinburgh and will focus
on the length and value of the offer. A further update will
be issued following the meeting

Update from meeting held with Employers
on Thursday 28th August 2008
The negotiating meeting with the employers today
on Pay has been adjourned until midday on Monday 1 September,
at this stage no new offer has been made. If a new offer is
to be made the employers require to seek a fresh mandate from
the CoSLA Leaders meeting taking place to morrow (Friday) however
we did have a full and frank discussion and impressed upon the
employers that the current offer had to be significantly improved
to be accepted by our members. Any press comments will simply
reflect the fact that talks are adjourned and we look forward
to making progress on Monday.
